Like the prequel, I enjoyed this - at least until the end. I am giving it a 3.5 because of how well written the book is and the overall premise.
Perhaps my negative feelings towards this book is due to me reading the prequel first. That book is a 5 star read and it's hard not to compare. Honestly, the plot of this novel kinda seemed forced to me - ESPECIALLY the ending. The plot didn't flow as naturally as the prequel nor was the story as gripping to me. In fact, it was predictable. I was able to guess the ending as soon as Annie began her journey. This was a little disappointing.
The ending felt rushed to me. I dont think the meaning of the journey was impactful as it should have been, like Eddie's. In summary, here was the end Annie's journey:
"Hey this is what actually happened to you and BTW your husband is dead - but it's okay cause you're a nurse who is supposed to save people AND now you're not going to be alone cause you miraculously got knocked up on your wedding night.."
Seriously??? It wasn't great in my opinion.
Although I enjoy the author and the lessons Annie learned along the way, the ending of the book definitely negatively impacted my image of the series.
