The Calling by Kelley Armstrong

2.0

I thought I stopped reading this series at book 1 when I was younger, but I remember a few events from this one too. Hmm.

I feel like this trilogy would’ve been better off as a duology because not much happens in this middle book. Lots of running, someone being captured, running, someone being captured, and so on.

They also climb trees to escape a black bear which - as somebody who was practically raised in the woods like Maya - sounds about as smart as Mina Lee climbing a tree to escape a cougar. Big bears might be less likely to climb after you, but they definitely still can — just look it up on YouTube. (Unless black bears in BC have lost their climbing abilities..)

And of course, same cultural appropriation criticism from my last review.

Onto the next book, which hopefully contains Darkest Powers’ Simon, Derek, and Chloe!
