The writing for this book was good and I was interested in the story.  I actually felt like the author probably pulled a lot of it from his life (I don't know for sure, but got that vibe), which was what the story was about, so it felt very meta to me.  I absolutely loathe long chapters and this book had just two.  For some reason, when there are long chapters it makes the book drag for me and that is what this one did.  Luckily, I was engaged enough in the story to keep on reading it.
