The Lost Apothecary follows a modern day woman with interest in becoming a historian, and what she learns about the life of an 18th Century London Apothecary who sells poisons to women who want to kill men in their lives.

I found this story to be well paced and engaging. The story seemed to flow organically from one event to the next, never rushing or lulling. I loved the comparison between the two women’s lives, who seemed entirely separated by location and time, yet both experiencing similar situations and they were both saved by friendship. The change in perspective came with a change in writing style, I absolutely loved that aspect of the book. It was emotional, mysterious, and still ended on a hopeful note, though the main character was mostly making decisions based on her emotions. I think that was the point, to show the difference between her and her husband (that POS). I recommend this book to those who love strong female characters and who may have some interest in herbs and healing remedies, overall a great read!
