The genuine genius of this book - aside from the writing and the art - is that it manages to juggle so many threads, whilst never feeling like what similarly plotty books often get bogged down with: simply existing to move characters around. I’m thinking of the Netflix series Dark here, which at times felt like chess, manoeuvring multiple exhausting subplots into place so everything worked. You never get that here. It’s beautifully constructed
