I went into Verity expecting a gripping psychological thriller, but unfortunately, it fell flat for me in almost every way. While the premise had potential—a struggling writer hired to finish a famous author’s unfinished series, only to uncover dark secrets in her manuscript—the execution left much to be desired.
One of the biggest issues I had with this book was the writing style. The excessive and unnecessary detail bogged down the pacing without adding depth to the characters or the plot. Instead of building tension or enhancing the story, these details often felt like filler.
Another major problem was the characterization. The main characters were unlikable and frustrating, making it impossible to invest in their journey. I wasn’t rooting for anyone, which made the suspense elements fall flat.
Overall, Verity was a disappointment. While some readers may enjoy the shocking twists and dark themes, I found it lacking in meaningful suspense, engaging characters, and thoughtful storytelling. I wouldn’t recommend this book.
