Saving Us: A Climate Scientist's Case for Hope and Healing in a Divided World
by Katharine Hayhoe
I listened to this book in a rush but it was quite engaging and easy to follow. As is always the case for me with this kind of books that ask us to be optimistic about our ability to change climate change, my cinicism and frustration with lack of impactful action kept rising up - despite all these great initiatives and 'progress' of climate change awarenes we still are racing down the worst case scenario of global warming so it's easy to feel like whatever we do just doesn't matter until the governments and big corporations grow backbones and put longevity and sustainability ahead of 'bigger profits at all costs' and don't put the blame on individuals with their customer footprint tools.
I particularly liked the last part and appreciated the authors message that we should do the right things not because it will stop global warming but because it will change us and help others to view things from a different perspective. That resonated with me - do the right thing because it's athe right thing and not because you think it'll make the greatest impact.
Overall a good book but nothing too in depth or though-provoking for me.
