Far Sector by N.K. Jemisin

4.0

quite possibly the most beautiful book i own, i thought Campbells artwork would be too much for a comic book, as he pumps his heart and soul into literally every building, vehicle and plant, but my god it worked out, it really worked, some of the most beautiful environments ive seen, with equally amazing characters designs and rendering, its almost like the Spiderverse artstyle, but unique enough for Campbell to call his own

The story was fantastic too, i havent read the broken earth trilogy but its clear that Jemisin is really really good at worldbuilding, and the actual plot is also really thought provoking, its a dystopian sci-fi noir, and i’ve read my fair share of dystopian books but this one never felt like any others, it was totally original

Jo is an incredibly relatable character because after all she’s just trying to do the right thing but is constantly brought down by the world, something i think anyone can relate to, shes also such a badass! her ring is the coolest looking and at one point she creates a gundam suit!

my only gripes are that the pacing wasnt the best, i did read this in one sitting but it didnt have me completely immersed all the way through, i think this would be well suited to be read in doses, as every issue starts with a catch-up, which i appreciate even though i dont read in floppies, but if i did that would be a lifesaver
