The Rivener: A Novel of Supernatural Suspense and Mind-Bending Adventure by Garrett Godsey

4.0

There’s always a bit of trepidation when reading an author's first book. Sometimes words and worlds don’t click like you’d want them to, but I’m pleased to say that The Rivener met all of my expectations and then some.

I fell in love with Kid and Alice immediately. I felt they had an adorable chemistry that I’d *love* to explore a bit further. These characters came from less-than-ideal situations and found each other at a crucial point in their lives. Seriously, I need more.

As for the story, I found the pacing a little slow in spots, but I’m honestly hard-pressed to find a story that doesn’t contain a lull or two. The magic contained within these pages is captivating and something worth exploring more. What I’m saying is that I’m going to be sitting here impatiently waiting for the next book, so hopefully, that’ll be a thing that happens in the future!

I gotta give a big thank you to Garrett Godsey for this ARC in exchange for an honest review! I was incredibly excited to land a copy of The Rivener, and I was not let down in the least.
