I knew nothing about communist Romania, and it was heartbreaking to read. However I feel like the author did a good job of giving you a sense of how awful things were without being overly graphic or depressing. I think it was written for teens? I could see that - it would make for axcellent classroom discussion. As an adult I thought it was great.

Content: I don't think there was any language or bedroom stuff - just depressing themes.
