I love this series, and can never get enough of portal worlds but the execution of the in-between books that don't follow the main cast seem to have been a bit lacking. This has intersex rep, but nothing really comes from that thread. The ending also is a bit rushed and inconclusive, and didn't fit with the rest of the theming around destiny, which I liked the theme for the rest of the book. Sometimes these novellas could use a bit more time.
