Baby Proof by Emily Giffin

4.0

Giffen has written a storyline in her novel that opens your heart for her characters. The novel follows a couple that is stuck in their own lives. In real life couples struggle to keep their love in existence, and fighting to convince themselves that they still want to be together regardless of the voice in the back of their mind. You see their break-up as an inevitable certainty, but while it's happening you find yourself disappointed that things aren't working out for them. In their attempts to cover their relationship problems the characters attempt to overwhelm their lives and minds with other things so that they don't have to admit that their relationship should end. You simultaneously want them to conceive because you too want these two people to have the happiness they deserve, and wanting them to move on from each other because you see that neither is content. The end is happy and sad at the same time, the honestly portrayed suggests that you aren't reading a book--you're hearing about a friend.
