Luna and the Lie by Mariana Zapata

5.0

Luna Allen works for Cooper's Collisions and Customs for 9 years. When her boss Mr. Cooper, decides to sell half of his part, the new co-owner Lucas Ripley enters Luna's life. At first he's mean to his co-workers but Luna just wanted to be friends with him. She was such a kind & soft character. Both Luna & Rip had some secrets about their past.
Luna had three little sisters while Lucas's family was not mentioned in the book for the first few parts, we get to know more about them along the way.
At first Rip is rude, grumpy, angry, mean & strict but eventually Luna rubs off on him lol!
“You got your ‘love you’ bracelet on. You’re all right.” I’ve got you. I’m here,” the man holding me said.
“You don’t have to bribe me to be your friend! I’ve been waiting for this for years, Rip,”
Rip had the best character development and I'm glad that Luna wasn't like one of the typical damsel in distress main characters who could not defend themselves. She was independent, self reliant and despite being kind & friendly, she used to toughen up when it was necessary.
“You are the sweetest thing I’ve ever had in my life,”
Rip & Luna first start off as friends but somewhere along the way they fall for each other. After being in a failed relationship and few dates, Luna's friends and family decide to set her up with some men on dates and the way Rip always got jealous and scared them away was so funny!
“Yeah, I did, Luna. You wanna go out to eat? I’ll take you. You wanna go out and get a Sprite? Tell me. You want to watch a fucking movie? I’ll take you to the goddamn movies. If you want to go to beat the shit out of your cousin again, I’ll fucking take you. You want to meet someone to be your best friend and your fucking partner? I’m right fucking here, baby girl.”
The chemistry and tension between Rip and Luna only grew with time. Rip was sooo perfect and swoon-worthy. The things he said were so sweet and I learner to like him despite being an inconsiderate asshole.
“You’re too young. You’re too sweet. You’re too good for me. But I’m done standing around trying to suck up all the goodness you make me feel without you even knowing, Luna. You are my girl. Just you. Nobody else ever has or will be.”
“You are the goodest, sweetest thing I have ever had in my life, and I don’t want you to go screaming the other way, you understand me? One day I’ll tell you about everything,”
“You don’t—you’ve never even had a girlfriend.” “So? Want me to lie and tell you I’ve had a couple dozen? Or you good with knowing it’ll only be you?”
The book was full of interesting characters and balanced with the right amount of suspence, romance & tension. You should really give it a try.
