The Language Instinct: How the Mind Creates Language by Steven Pinker

Did not finish book.

2.0

The first few chapters: absolutely fascinating.
Then after that I started skipping paragraphs, then pages, then whole chapters.
It was just so mind-numbingly boring. I can't possibly read nearly 500 pages of it, so I've dropped it halfway through. I'm sure there are some fascinating things further ahead, but I'm certainly not enthusiastic to find them.

This book could have been more concise. It feels like an old academic lecturing in a chair about the same old thing. The writing is engaging, but only 20% of it. The rest is unbearable.
