Black Against Empire: The History and Politics of the Black Panther Party
by Waldo E. Martin, Joshua Bloom
Definitive and objective. I sure would be interested to hear what the authors would say about Black Lives Matter, as it seems to fit their definition of a revolutionary movement. The book concluded somewhat pessimistically about the chances of a new organization that would have the impact of the Black Panther Party. While BLM doesn't have free breakfast for children, I think the care that is shown among protesters is equivalent for the times, and I do believe it will have lasting impact and will, in fact, change the world. I hope it does.
