Ultimately this one is not for me. First review I'm doing on here but most of my reviews become Heftier on a diff website. Maybe i'll link it at some point. Rn i'm just going to note down my thoughts for later.

> this is ultimately a bit boring in my opinion. ham-fisted commentary on sexism and environmental criticism. faber doesn't try to be delicate with using sci fi to portray a message, and fair play to him, the genre is built for it. I can't forgive him for making the first 150 pages more and more of the same - all of the development and pace was left for the last 100 pages, which, to be fair, had me. It took me two weeks to read the first 2/3s - took me 2 days to read the rest.

I will give credit whete credit is due, this is the first novel I've managed to chow down on in 2023. After having made my one and only NY's resolution to read more, it's a little pathetic it's the first one i've managed (and its february) - but i'm hoping this was the one to get me out of my a levels to present slump.

Onto the fifth element...
