I don't know how i previously gave this 5 stars. It baffles me. The writing was fine, the pacing was too slow, some of the jokes were sexist and plain mean especially on Jace's part. I know this book was set in 2007 and was published that year as well but even then I'm guessing it wasn't fine to draw upon such topics for humor.
Clary wasn't as annoying as i remember her to be. None of the characters except Jace was.
But I'm guessing the plot wasn't full enough for me. I can easily summarize the first 70% of the book into a few major events that other authors could fit into 100 pages and add more plot-heavy, less splice of life into their plots. I enjoy a good character driven book but it's wither that or plot and the characters weren't even growing. This whole chunk took place over the course of a few days.
