Across the Universe by Beth Revis

This story is a sci-fi adventure that all takes place on a spaceship which is unusual for the YA genre today. Twice I cried while reading and those two portions of the book are definitely my favorites. The characters are all flawed, their ideas so mixed up, that it makes it seem more realistic and as if this actually could happen to future generations. The different types of people on the ship all play their roles and they are all written as such separate personalities. The only ones we don’t get to learn much about are the scientists, which would have been nice and made the story feel more thorough and complete.

I was hoping for more with this story, with all of the hype it’s been getting, but it fell short on action and short on development of the characters. Die hard sci-fi fans might enjoy this more as many of the best parts of the book had to do with the actual science and what the future could be like.
