House of Slaughter, Vol. 1: The Butcher's Mark by Tate Brombal, James Tynion IV

4.0

Compared to the main Something is Killing the Children title, this spinoff is actually easier to navigate as far as panel sequence goes. It also felt much more focused on emotional character development and background on some key mysterious characters. It's noteworthy that James Tynion IV didn't write the script, and I could tell, but overall Tate Brombal does a great job of carrying the torch into the dark corners of this monster-filled world.
