Invisible City by M.G. Harris

If the main character in this book weren't just 13, I'd like it more. Some of the events in this book are a bit much for its intended age range, I think. I mean - murder is fine, I guess, but decapitation? Adultery? The main character's mom goes to the hospital for depression and the boy just continues to live at home? Suspicious. Also - he blogs about everything when things are supposed to be top-secret. As a librarian trying to teach students Internet safety, this seems pretty irresponsible. And did I mention that this boy, and his two friends, travel to Mexico from the UK on their own?
All that said, it's a really fun adventure story, and I think fans of 39 Clues, Mission Unstoppable, and Gordon Korman books will enjoy it. I won't be recommending it to students younger than 6th grade, though.
