The Retribution of Mara Dyer
by Michelle Hodkin
I'm speechless but so happy yet sad because it's all over. My emotions were all over the place during this, especially towards the second half. I can't say much more than this without spoiling it but I will say this. I loved this book so much, I couldn't have expected anything about this book before I had read it. Michelle wrapped the story up beautifully and it makes me want to hug the book and her. Mara and Noah's story was and is amazing & Beautiful and there is a reason why it's my favorite trilogy. There is something VERY bittersweet about it ending because there is no more. But Michelle ends it in a way that makes you feel like you know what their future will hold and I feel like it will be beautiful. Thank you so much Michelle for creating and writing and putting your blood sweat and tears into this story. I'm very grateful. Now I'm gonna mention some spoilery stuff so you should just go read them all yourself now. As in RIGHT NOW! *spoilers* So I had a theory that Noah's father was the benefactor for Horizons and I was like OOOOOOOH when I realized I was right. It made me very happy, but you know not, because he sucks. This book made me have whiplash with its Romeo and Juliet like feeling when Mara died, then Noah killed himself, then Mara woke up, BUT Noah didn't really die, he just took a little while to heal UGGH that was stressful. I love love LOVED when they finally got back together. And Michelle wrote their sex scene beautifully without it being a fade to black type of situation, yet still wasn't too descriptive. She wrote it as not only two bodies becoming one, but as in two souls. You have to be very talented to be able to accomplish that. Goodbye Jaime and your hilarious character. Goodbye Noah and your heartbreakingly beautiful character who I will forever use as a fictional boyfriend. Goodbye Mara. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching through your eyes, and walking through your life. It feels like I'm saying goodbye to friends. This trilogy was/is beautiful and it will always hold a place in my heart. I will be recommending and rereading this trilogy for years to come.
