The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro
3.0
The most striking feature of this book was its restraint. Ishiguro did a fantastic job of letting much of the story fall between the lines, which I appreciate as too many authors feel the need to hammer it home. At the same time, I was left itching to know more, and in some ways was disappointed that Ishiguro did not share more.
Stevens' character was impeccably written, not once did he waver. I wish there had been a few more glimpses in his character, however, a few cracks to hint more of what lay underneath.
