Warcross by Marie Lu
5.0

I would never doubt again any of Marie Lu's work - EVER.

I didn't pick this up immediately when it was released last year because I found out it was a gaming novel. As a non-gamer and someone who doesn't spend majority of my free time in online games, I couldn't really relate to it. I even DNF-ed [b:Ready Player One|9969571|Ready Player One (Ready Player One, #1)|Ernest Cline|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1500930947s/9969571.jpg|14863741] years ago because I couldn't relate to the whole concept, and the jargon was totally foreign to me. So after that encounter, I steered clear away from all gaming-themed novels until now. I only picked this one up due to the insistence of my friends, saying how much they enjoyed it and that it was more on the hacking part rather than the gaming part.

Still wary, I decided to give it a shot.

And holy shit I did not expect to finish this book in 2 days!

They were totally right! I was completely blown-away! I haven't been able to read pure science fiction book in a long time in a short span of time, but I was amazed at myself at how fast I was able to finish Warcross. The story just kept rising and rising steadily that I found myself moving just as quickly. I also loved that it really did focused on more on the hacking and coding aspect rather than the games. But the games were so cool too! As for someone who isn't that tech-savvy, this book wasn't that overwhelming at all.

And those plot twists!!

I can't wait for the second book to come out soon!
