Rome by Dorothea Lasky

3.0

New to Lasky, I found these poems enjoyable, though their style isn't my cup of tea. To be fair, certain elements of her style, like her use of repetition, are likely better served when read aloud - I sensed the lilt to her rhythm while reading them, but her line repetitions would definitely sound better than they look on the page. Lasky also contrasts her images well with her more abstract statements, though I found said images generic, at times.

Overall, I enjoyed the collection, but I likely won't return to it for re-readings.
