Dream of Ding Village by Yan Lianke
4.0
The fever hid in blood; Grandpa hid in dreams.
The fever loved its blood; Grandpa loved his dreams.
Highly metaphorical in my opinion. While reading Dream of Ding Village, I always thought that there was more left unsaid. The whole book was tragic and eerie with its haunting prose. I got the feeling that Grandpa was some kind of a Mahdi figure but like an anti-hero version if you know what I mean.
Also, at the very end I realized that The Years, Months, Days was like its natural continuation after Dream of Ding Village.
