Scythe by Neal Shusterman

"Have we ever had an enemy worse than ourselves?"

This book was all I could ever ask for in fiction. From seeing the cover, reading the blurb and starting the first chapter - I knew it had a good thing going.

I never knew the hype surrounding this book, I'd never even heard the author's name and I'm a librarian. I was on an app called 'likewise' and I was asking for books that really break the mold and someone recommended this. Since that first was mentioned 2 or 3 people also recommended it.

The concept was so fascinating to me. Death is eradicated however as death still needs to happen to stave overpopulation an order was set up to mercifully and humanly glean "kill" other humans.

Lots of things really stood out to me in this novel. The characters were really well done and the plot even more. There was so many profound questions and philosophies in this book, I find it hard for someone to read it and not be changed in some way.

There so much I want to say but can't until you've read it. You don't need another hint.
