The Do-Over
by T.L. Swan
Spoiled, youngest sibling and billionaire playboy, Christopher Miles gives up his lifestyle for one year to go backpacking across Europe. This concept alone was enough to reel me in. I loved that they tapped big brother, Jameson, for his camping expertise… which if you read book 1 you’d know that didn’t even last a whole night.
Hayden is a sweet country girl who already has her future planned out, to live and work on her parents farm in rural New York. She booked a year long backpacking trip after her high school sweetheart broke her heart.
The enemies to lovers aspect didn’t last long, it’s like Christopher was immediately drawn to Hayden and although they have witty banter that seems snarky they are flirting more than actually hating each other. The two get really close as friends and eventually their friendship turns to romance.
Since the book follows their relationship through the year of backpacking it kind of reads like a very extended epilogue. Even the eventual 3rd act breakup and reconciliation were just a bit lacking in my opinion.
The true shining story through the entire book was the bond formed with Eddie, the Spanish boy they first encounter in Barcelona and Christopher cannot bring himself to go far from the entire trip.
