That Story Isn't the Story by John Wiswell

challenging medium-paced

3.0

The story that isn’t a story is more a story than most stories. The story treads both familiar ground and incorporates unfamiliar territory. It’s something akin to magic realism, where little things like stigmata are used against ghosting and everything seems both familiar and not. The story? It’s about a person who has been rescued and how it takes them some time to realize that the rescue is real and not just temporary. Beyond that, the literal and the metaphor mix so much in this story that it is very difficult to separate them. At the end, you realize that the resolution has occurred, but it has not been easy.
