I adored the first in the series, but this one fell flat. The things that made the first one delightful (a non-magical middle aged lady dumped in the middle of a magical adventure) got less sparkly when she actually becomes magical. Honestly it started feeling kinda like any average teen fantasy romance, book two, and the fact that the protagonist is forty didn't really save it.
