The Winter King
by Bernard Cornwell
This book is an imperfect 5. The only reason it got a 4 is that it really does not need any more 5* and I wanted to showcase the imperfection. I loved the way Cornwell interpreted the Arthurian legend. I love how realistic the whole story is. What I didnt like was the intro. It was very very... boring. Dervel just threw us 10-15 pages of pure lore. I get that this is how he set up the story but I think there were better ways for it. Finally I didnt like Merlyn's final appearance. I didnt like how it served the story. Overall I loved Arthur and of course Dervel. I liked Nimue and Galahand. There is a very good story here. I just wanted a few details ironed out to really say "it was perfect". But the good parts are VERY good.
