This book was absolutely phenomenal. Tolkien and Martin need to move over, because Samantha Shannon is the newest storyteller in female-led fantasy novels. The world building, the multi-dimensional female characters and the plot line are woven together into a beautiful novel. She has shown that there is more than one type of strong female lead, by giving the narrators different values, dreams, and personal stories. Her casual representation of lesbian relationships and characters of color give this story a whole new level of diversity. Well done!
