I found this book to be pretty badly written and researched. A lot of the evidence was anecdotal, and often I was wishing for more analysis. In the name of her goal of writing something that isn't academic or jargon-y, Nada Elia seems to have evacuated some important definitions and explanations. Also VERY US-centric which isn't what I was expecting or looking for.
To give you an idea: this book starts by saying that every Latin American country is settler colonial, and ends by saying that Black South Africans opposing apartheid have never been accused of reverse racism. Both of which are very false lol.
Such an important topic deserves to have a better book written about it.
