Pardonable Lies
by Jacqueline Winspear
Third book into the series and I am sad to say I’m not sure if I’ll pick up more for a while. The writing is just not engaging. The story could have been cut in half and all the basics would have easily fit. Others mention there is too much going on and I agree. Maisie is a very flat, boring, prudish character. In three books there is very little growth in her character besides seeing her Dad more often and working through (some) of her past. I own more books from the series bc I found them at a thrift store so maybe I’ll give them another go in a while. But I’m at the point where I would much rather put my precious time into enjoyable books.
