In Order to Live: A North Korean Girl's Journey to Freedom
by Yeonmi Park, Maryanne Vollers
Thanks to an unexpected long travel day, I was pretty much able to finish this book in a day.
Yeonmi is one year younger than me and I cannot even imagine the strength to survive her childhood and the bravery to take on her journey to freedom. She is a brave woman who had to endure so much struggle and darkness as a child in North Korea and then had to find a way out the only way she could. I’m so glad she fought for her freedom, found her voice and shared her story with us.
It truly opens your eyes to the dark side of the world.
It breaks my heart to think about what she was going through as a child at the same time as myself was growing up. No child or human should be treated like this or experience this but it happens way more than we know. Thank you Yeonmi for being strong and fighting for yourself. You’re an inspiration! Keep sharing your story and exposing the evil that exists.
