First Impressions
This had a fling to second chance romance feel to it. This does have a heroine that is a famous musician and a hero who is a protective cop. I really enjoyed the dynamic between them. It does start out with a intimate scene which isn't my favorite. I am not into the instant flings in stories but I see why the author wrote this as she did to really set up for the second chance aspects. I found this book to have great potential but fell a bit flat in the end for me. I wanted to love this more than I actually did. I think though I have always done her books in audio and I think that is why I didn't love this as much as I wanted to.
First Line
"You like that?" he growls into my ear, his eyes pinned to mine in the mirror in front of us.
The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Levi Crawford
The Heroine: Stella
Summary
Stella is a famous musician but she has some demons in her past that she can't seem to let go of. She shares a brilliant connection with Levi Crawford, who is a PD in Seattle. When she is sent home by her doctor to take a break from the tour as she is suffered from trauma and needs some rest, she runs into Levi again. But this time, Levi isn't going to let her brush him off like she did their first time together. He is going to court her but protect his heart until he knows she will treat it well. Levi is consumed by his work and for the first time he needs the solace he can find in Stella's arms. But there is a danger that surrounds Stella that could put them both at risk.
What I Loved
I really loved the hero, Levi Crawfod, was so sexy and I loved him as the hero. He was likeable and sexy but also had principles and stood for something. I also respected how he stood for himself and set boundaries in the relationship. When you see how the heroine treats him in the beginning, you really respect what he sets for their relationship. Stella is in need of some rest, relaxation and some good ole fashioned wooing. lol And Levi woo's her deeply and I was all for the whole dating dance they do in this book. We need so much more of that in contemporary romance that I feel is missing in so many books these days.
What I Struggled With
I struggled with the most was the heroine and in how she treats the hero. It wasn't easy seeing how she treats him in the beginning. I also feel like I struggled with the writing in this one, and maybe its because I have only physically read her novellas lol I also felt like there were some unanswered questions. The biggest one was Stella didn't seem to want a family or kids....but the hero obviously did and they never really tackled that later in the story so it was a bit confusing where she stood on that once they were together in the end. And please read the trigger warnings for this book, there is a scene that might be troubling for some dealing with a homicide Levi is looking into and its really heartbreaking to read.

Steam/Spice Explanations
Simmering cup of tea---soft warm touches and light intimacy
Warmin' by the fire- a medium level of sexual tension, a balance of sexual and emotional intimacy, lighter on the details in the sexual moments.
Steamin' up the room -the sexual content is more explicit in the language and tone, heavier amount of sexual scenes.
Blazing fire to the building-The prime focus is the sex scenes, scorching hot, and could burn one. Less focus on the emotional intimacy to the relationship.
