We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

5.0

This is an absolute must read. It is short, simple, and highly compelling. She hits on so many crucial parts of the gender gap. Within only 48 short pages she eloquently dismantles the stereotype of what feminism is. She illustrates that it is more than unshaved men hating women. She illuminates the need for active feminism and the deep roots of toxic masculinity. Her rhetoric is inclusive to the dangers of gender stereotypes. Adiche holds a powerful yet humble voice throughout her speech and it is a crucial read for our modern world.

I’ll leave you with two quotes from her speech:

“Gender as it functions today is a grave injustice”

“The problem with gender is that it prescribes how we should be rather than recognizing how we are.”
