The Naked Truth
by Vi Keeland
This was a group read, but I probably would have read it eventually because I generally like the author. This is probably more of a 3-1/2 star read but it was entertaining.
I felt like Layla worked pretty hard to distance herself from Gray after his explanation which was a legit explanation. He wasn't her father by any stretch. And I don't know if people IRL avoid love because they're afraid of being hurt, but it does seem to happen a lot in romance novels, lol. I feel like we were sort of ripped off with the Oliver scene. Sure, it wasn't really important to the story, but did he fight for them at all? Was he just like, OK I get it? Was he upset at all? One other thing that niggled at me... isn't there a thing about attorneys and clients getting involved? But ignoring that, I thought it was a cute story. I wanted to smack Gray near the end, but wanting to smack a fictional character is nothing new to me, lol. I did find it interesting that she initially broke it off with him after seeing something and didn't actually talk to him about it, and then. Oh, yeah, I hate Max. First, she set him up for money *she* stole. Then she doesn't . Then she tries to interfere with Layla and Gray's relationship when she's . Witch. Oh, one more missing part... Max came to Layla ostensibly to find Aidan and the rest of the missing money... I don't think anything else was said about that.
But overall a sweet story of a guy trying really hard to right his wrongs with the girl who means everything to him.
