This isn't a terribly unique story, and these characters aren't terribly unique either. But the premise of this book does a lot to make it memorable. I had fun as a reader filling in the gaps between each year, trying to imagine what we weren't privy to. It was equal parts funny and poignant, and well-balanced between the two.
I bumped up this rating because I thought the last chapter was so beautifully penned. I was a little teary listening to it in my car, with the knowledge of everything that was to come for these characters.
