Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

5.0

What a beautiful follow up to Everything I Never Told You.
I love Ng's writing so much and she writes such wonderful characters and really knows how to write a compelling book that is almost entirely character driven. I loved the way that the story unfolded and how Ng was able to make me feel something entirely different about each of the characters by the end of the book. At it's core, this is a domestic drama set in the 90's, when an adoption case gets the entire town involved and our two main families are on opposing sides. It really explores what motherhood looks like for different women and different families and the importance of growing up and knowing where you came from. The way she writes on these types of issues, shows us how complex and how messy they can be. The setting, Shaker Heights, I feel could have been written anywhere - we all know communities like this, and I think that is one reason that it resonated so much with me in that regard. Overall a beautiful book and an excellent follow up to her debut. I look forward to the rest of her career.
