The Surgeon's Daughter by Audrey Blake

3.0

Interesting historical fiction about 19th century Nora Beady and her quest to become a surgeon. She apprenticed with her adoptive father then had to go to Italy in order to attend a medical school. England would not allow nor license women doctors. The story tells of the beginning of the use of cesarean as an option for childbirth. The side story of Nora and Daniel as well as the struggle with diphtheria and tetanus.
