This took me a few chapters to get into it but I enjoyed it once I got there! More Jumanji than Groundhog Day though - the main character gets three chances to make things right after a less than stellar Christmas holiday. I very much appreciate a main character who can grow and act like an adult and Mae does that consistently even when she's in such a crazy situation. Potentially, she grows up a bit unrealistically fast but I appreciated a character who doesn't just whine constantly and not do anything. I find that happens a bit too much in contemporary fiction these days. Bonus points for wacky family characters and traditions.
