CW: dubious consent, sexual assault, kidnapping, uneven power dynamics, violence

I ended up enjoying this book much more than I expected!  The first 100 pages or so were very challenging (for me) to read because of the lack of consent.  I guess this book is a paranormal bodice ripper where the MMC starts out as a villain but then becomes a hero.

Without spoilers, I just really enjoyed Kresley Cole's writing.  She consistently used dog imagery for Lachlain (a werewolf) which did not fail to make me laugh. Because Kresley Cole was adept at adding many laugh-out-loud moments, it really lightened the book from what otherwise might be a pretty dark book.

I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
