I have loved reading The Martian but felt really scared to pick this up because this book is THICC. I'm glad that I finally did. Ryland's adventure is something that will forever stick with me. The plot is great. Everything had an answer. I was surprised with the way things turned out. The start is a bit slow, but hang in there. There's something amazing after the 1/3 of the book.
If there's anything that I would change in this book is the flashbacks. I think they could've been written shorter. I skimmed through most of them after reaching 50% of the book, they didn't really do much in the big picture after that point.
If you're someone who is scared to pick this up because you're afraid that the whole Science thing will swallow you, throw those thoughts away because Andy Weir has made Science accessible. If Science was taught in this format at school, I might be a rocket scientist by now.
All in all, I'm really glad that this is the first book I've read this year. Starting real strong.
CAN WE TALK ABOUT ROCKY?!?!?!?!
