**spoiler alert** This is one of my go-to comfort books. Alex and Violet are hilarious characters. Alex Waters is a hockey star in Chicago and Violet’s step-brother gets traded to the local team. Violet is dragged out to support her brother in his first game with the team and it’s an instant connection between the two of them. That connection explodes into Insta-lust and a hookup at the team hotel.
Their entire relationship is an adorable push-pull with a little bit of borderline stalker behavior from Alex that would have been creepy if he wasn’t so darn earnest. Normally I don’t enjoy the back and forth, will they won’t they relationships but this one was superbly done with lots of valid and understandable reasons for Violet’s reticence. Plus, we get some epic groveling from Alex and I love a good grovel.
This book is laugh out loud funny, absolutely ridiculous, heart-filled, and adorable. It shouldn’t be able to be all four but somehow it is.
