Ok to start the beginning of this was not great and I really really hate the cover of this book. Embarrassed to read it in public level of dislike for it. I considered DNFing. I had to keep reminding myself that this was written in 2014 because I was getting so annoyed by the characters and the way they were saying stuff. I was cringing at times, especially when a character said “cray cray”. It reminded me of like a 40 year old trying to fit in with their kid and trying to use “young people lingo”. Those instances did lessen the further into the book I got though. Along with that it felt suuuper predictable so that was also a bummer.

However, the second half got a lot better. Still not great but good enough the buy the next book in the series. I am interested enough in the characters and the plot, and I’m optimistic that the next book will be even better.
