another book i wanted to like but just didn’t. it had a really promising start. the dread throughout was pretty good, and it built at an appropriate pace. but as soon as the narrator saw the photo in the parents house i knew what was up. people are like “you’ll never guess” but guess what? i did guess. that being said i don’t think it was overly predictable or heavy handed with clues.

however, despite the good parts, this book just slowly turned into a pity party intellectual philosophical circle jerk. the author clearly wanted to wax poetic about loneliness and identity etc and there were times i felt preached at. i feel like the biggest incel you know would read this book and love it. and that is enough for me to dislike it immensely tbh lmao
