Wow. This is officially one of my all time favorite books.

I am so impressed by this debut. I’ll officially read anything this author puts out. The writing was amazing and Charmaine Wilkerson has a way of pulling at the heartstrings while weaving a mysterious story with short cliffhanger chapters that will keep you turning the pages. I loved the alternate timelines, it added so much more intrigue. I had to know what was happening next.

The idea of food connecting cultures and being passed down as tradition was a great theme and let me just say, I’m dying to try Black Cake now.

This is just a phenomenal book that could fit so many genres and reach into many different readers’ hearts. I will be shouting from the rooftops for everyone to read Black Cake this year.
