There’s gotta be something wrong with me to start 2023 off with a dark romance series, maybe it sets the tone of the new year lol, anyways at first I had so much trouble connecting with the story until it picked up and boy did I love it. Literally kicking my feet and squealing which shouldn’t have happened. I loved Marcella’s character growth though, you could tell she was just daddy’s princess but by the end she was clearly becoming her own and she was such a badass I loved it!! I don’t mind Maddox’s, he’s ballsy for falling in love with Marcella I’ll give him that, I’m immediately starting the next book. 

SPOILERS AHEAD: 

Things I liked: 
  • “My eyes drifted back to the photo as if pulled by an invisible string. Too fucking gorgeous to be true” 
  • “I actually laughed. She had bite. I liked that.”
  • Maddox saving her from one of the drunk club members on her first night 
  • “Her cheek was still slightly swollen from when Cody had slapped her and the sight still upped my rage.”
  • “Cody won’t touch a fucking hair on your head again. I’ll make sure of it.”
  • Marcella asking Gray if he’s okay because he looked sick (I hope they have a nice friendship) 
  • “The reasons for my need to protect Marcella were fucking irrelevant. All that mattered was to get her out of danger. ”
  • HE BROUGHT HE SANDWICHES 
  • “I’d rather be feared or rather respected for who I am.”
  • “I turned away from the window as if I didn’t care that he was back, but the overwhelming relief in my body spoke a very different language.”
  • “After a deep sigh, he grabbed my neck and pulled me down for a kiss. “I’ll really loathe letting you go.”
  • Maddox getting pissed at Cody and Earl because they touched Marcella (cut off her left ear) 
  • “Snow White,” I murmured. She didn’t react. “Marcella.”
  • “From the first moment I spotted her, she hadn’t left my mind.”
  • “Snow White, I’m sorry, fucking sorry,” I murmured, touching her cheek.”
  • “Even if I’ve never seen a woman who can cry prettier than you, I never wanted your fucking tears.”
  • “I felt a wave of protectiveness and affection that almost knocked me over.” (While they were hugging) 
  • Maddox saying he’ll protect her after she said his uncle will break her because her dad can’t be broken 
  • Gray carried her back to the Maddox’s room (my heart) 
  • Maddox calling her gorgeous after her ear incident 
  • “You’re worth dying for.”
  • “The thought of letting her go, of never seeing her again, it added a heavy weight on my shoulders.”
  • “Her eyes burned a hole into my soul and heart. “Fuck,” I growled. “I can’t fucking lose you.”
  • “And today I’d betray my club for her. I’d give up my life goal for her. And maybe I’d even lose my life for her.”
  • HER GAVE HER DAD THEIR LOCATION IM DYING 
  • “I loved Maddox, loved him as much as I’d always dreamed of loving someone, desired him as fiercely as I’d hoped for.”
  • “I am my father’s daughter, don’t ever underestimate me because I’m a woman. Being a woman doesn’t mean I’m not strong.”
  • Marcella getting Maddox to kill Earl (I literally giggled that’s so badass of her) 
  • “Maddox leaned forward, pressing a hot kiss to the tattoo. “You are truly your father’s daughter, Snow White, and a true queen if there ever was one.”
  • “You’ll beg her for forgiveness and call her queen when I’m done with you.”
  • Amo saying it’s Marcella’s birthright to be involved 
  • Maddox telling Marcella’s dad he loves her
  • Marcella going to see Satan at the animal shelter
