I have had this on my tbr for over a year and kept having to push out due to timing of when it became available and what I was reading, but the time has finally come! Also I have not read the original Emma by Jane Austen to properly understand any similarities. The main character was a little annoying and always inserting herself to take on a new project when she got bored which often included bossing people around it felt like. However we did get to see her character grow which was nice in the end. And she also did want to prove to herself as well. Honestly anything with a NYC backdrop is always an added bonus. Just the two love interests were too stubborn for their own good and like all books their problems could have been avoided by communicating their feelings. I did not like that they made Nadine an airhead. She was sweet, and yes naïve. Which they could have left it as that in a way that wasn’t so airhead like. But again once they communicated in the end and she spoke clearly it all evened out. Minus my negative thoughts, it was an enjoyable read and while I don’t love a ton of spice there were two scenes that I felt were really well written without being vulgar.
