The prose isn't near enjoyable enough to get past the racism nor the imperialist's wet dream of a plot.  Passepartout and Fogg had moments where their personalities shined, but it was inescapable that much of the plot was 
thank god the British tamed all these savage lands, but, uh oh, they haven't tamed this part yet, so we will inevitably come across some uneducated freaks, but oh my goodness one of those freaks has white skin and speaks English, I think I'll marry that one.


It wasn't for me.
